Box Score

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Backup quarterback Greg Henderson ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start, and Robbie Beck ran for 150 yards and a score as Rice beat Tulsa 33-18 Saturday.

Only a few hundred spectators braved cold, drizzly conditions to watch a mismatch of one of the nation's top rushing teams against one of the weakest rushing defenses. Rice (4-5, 3-3 Western Athletic Conference) is 12th nationally in rushing with 239.9 yards per game. Tulsa (1-4, 1-8) was ranked 114th in rushing defense.

The Owls gained a season-high 427 yards rushing, their most since they had 498 against Tulsa last year.

Henderson, subbing for injured starter Kyle Herm, directed the Rice option attack well, and the Owls' defense allowed just 47 yards rushing.

Tulsa trailed 20-0 at halftime and lost starting quarterback Tyler Gooch at the end of the half with a possible concussion.

The Owls dominated the first half, producing 267 yards while limiting Tulsa to 53.

Tulsa had the first scoring opportunity but squandered an 81-yard punt return by Sean Yoder to the Rice 6-yard line. Two plays later, Killian's pass was deflected at the line and intercepted by safety Antwan Shell.

Killian completed 9 of 21 passes for 91 yards and added a 7-yard touchdown run with 3:55 to play.

A blocked punt by Jerome Janet set up a 1-yard touchdown by Eric Richardson with 1:33 to play.
